I have contributed to numerous research and innovation projects in pavements, promoting Asphalt 4.0 solutions, digitalization, and sustainability while improving quality control processes. An author and co-author of several scientific publications, I actively engage in industry forums, sharing knowledge and advancing the field.

He is also the focal person for the French bitumen market. He previously worked for Routes de France, the French association of road construction companies, as Director of Technical Affairs. He also has an experience in managing collaborative research projects. Brice Delaporte is a civil engineer and has a PhD in civil engineering.

He has 20+ years of experience in analyzing, intervening, and managing (inter-)national projects. He currently holds the position of Lead Transitionpath Sustainable Pavements (Rijkswaterstaat) and has developed, with a spearhead team, a national strategy to transition the Dutch asphalt industry towards a sustainable, circular pavements industry. 

He is in charge of the EAPA Technical Committee, as well as the Committees on Asphalt 4.0 and Health, Safety and Environment. In addition, he represents the asphalt industry in European policy forums and in CEN standardisation committees related to asphalt, actively contributing to the development of European standards.

As Eurobitume’s Technical Lead, Ian is the focal point for all technical activities and is responsible for the development of training packages, is an active member of the task forces on safe handling & safe delivery of bitumen and bitumen test methods. Ian holds a PhD in polymer chemistry and has a particular interest in polymer-modified bitumens. Ian is an active contributor in many European and National committees for bitumen &  bituminous binders.

He has authored an extensive body of work and spearheaded hundreds of research projects in the field of road engineering. His distinguished career is marked by some of the most prestigious honors, including the National Research Award in Technology Transfer from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain Award, the RILEM Robert L’Hermite Medal or the ASEFMA Professional Career Award.

He counts with a long international experience in assessing and implementing Traffic Calming Schemes in urban areas and major road networks in different countries in Europe, Latin America, and Russia. In 2008, he has been appointed Director General of the European Union Road Federation (ERF), a non-profit organisation representing the European Road Infrastructure sector and acting as a platform of dialogue and research for road mobility issues, with focus on road safety, road asset management and sustainable and smart mobility.

Prior to his current role, he served as the Executive Director of the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA), and before his time at the APA, Reed was the founding Executive Director of the Utah Asphalt Pavement Association (UAPA), a position he assumed in 2012. Reed’s career began in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a legislative aide to Senator Orrin Hatch and later as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Office of Public and International Affairs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University and a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University.
